I Received a couple comments about my last post. Apparently I struck some raw nerves when I said some American consumers believe its ok to buy foreign cars instead of buying American cars and supporting the American workers. One comment was to long and went on to bash Obama, so I'm going to reject that one. If you want to bash Obama, do it in your own blog. The other post I think I'll accept, just so my readers can see why some people think it's ok to buy foreign cars.
To The Natural State Hawg who says that him and his wife own two Toyotas that were built here in the USA by American labor. I've heard the same lame excuse from other Toyota owners. Do you know where the profits from those Toyotas go after you buy them? They go straight to Japan, which helps their economy. Who are you supporting? Japan. That's where your hard earn cash is going, instead of stimulating our economy, you're stimulating Japan's economy. The reason Toyota is cheaper than a comparable US made car is because of unfair trade practices by Japan and the fact that Japan artificially devalues their yen so that they can sell their exports cheaper. Another reason is Toyota has only been making a big amount of cars for maybe 20 years, so they don't have a whole lot of retiree pensions to pay out. Another myth is American made cars are overpriced garbage. Where have you been the last 10 years? If you bother to go and test drive a few of the new American made cars by GM, Ford or Chrysler (I don't know about the Pacifica, I never cared for that model), you'll find out that our cars are at least as good, if not better than the new Toyotas selling today. BUY AMERICAN, no more excuses.
